Salem witch trials Essay Example for Free
Salem witch preliminaries Essay In the analysis, ââ¬Å"Do Video Games Killâ⬠, Karen Sternheimer uncovers an intriguing and staggeringly questionable subject; are computer games to fault for youth weapon savagery? She keeps up that because of many one-sided suppositions; political, strict and support gatherings, the media have neglected to give adequate data to people in general bringing about the powerlessness to frame an informed sentiment, thus causing a widespread panic bringing about harder security rules in schools, stricter adolescent laws and far less close to home and parental duty. An inconceivably well known first individual shooter computer game, Doom, is ready with unwarranted savagery. To such an extent that it has been accused for a few mass shootings, executed by working class, white, youthful grown-up guys. The media, government officials, backing bunches just as the FBI are undaunted in guaranteeing that the main reasonable clarification is that of the people falling prey to the animosity actuating computer game. To put it plainly, the brutal computer game caused them to do it. One may be helped to remember the Salem Witch Trials, where no informed clarification can be determined, those which can't shield themselves, regardless of how unrealistic the thinking, is the conspicuous answer. Strict and political doctrine has spun out of control. The media have made pointless dread and conviction based frenzy to legitimize their own plans under the pretense of ââ¬Å"protecting childrenâ⬠. As a rule, exchange clarifications are not thought about. Misery, neediness, numbness, self expostulation, harassing, brutal home life are only from time to time refered to and when refered to are not investigated top to bottom. The equity framework in almost every state has updated its adolescent equity laws to build their punishments from numerous points of view; in any case, the Supreme Court regarded adolescent executions unlawful, which thus made considerably more feed for the jumpy masses.

Survey Reveals More than Half of Americans Are Victims of Predatory Lending and Other Practices - OppLoans
Survey Reveals More than Half of Americans Are Victims of Predatory Lending and Other Practices - OppLoans Survey Reveals More than Half of Americans Are Victims of Predatory Lending and Other PracticesInside Subprime: August 12, 2019By Lindsay FrankelNew research commissioned by Public Rights Project reveals that more than half of Americans have been victims of corporate abuses ranging from unjust compensation to predatory lending. The goal of the research was to uncover data that shows the harmful effects of illegal business practices on U.S. adults, as well as to understand why people neglect to report such abuses. In this unprecedented national survey, 54 percent of the 2,000 respondents said theyâd been victimized by corporate abuse in the past decade, which included wage theft, unsafe conditions in rental properties, predatory lending and debt collection, and health issues caused by corporate pollution. This study shows how prevalent corporate abuse remains despite strong laws on the books, said Jill Habig, founder and president of Public Rights Project. The research provides a sobe ring snapshot of corporate abuse in peoples everyday lives and the need for enforcement to hold corporations accountable.âThe survey also made apparent that Americans want corporations to be held accountable for illegal business practices, with eight in 10 respondents reporting the belief that prosecutors should prioritize corporate abuse cases, compared to only 30 percent who said prosecutors should go after individuals for nonviolent crimes.Even with a recent push for better laws and policy, especially around wages and housing, if they arent enforced then people still get harmed. Enforcement is the last mile of good policy. We also believe focusing on crimes so many people suffer from will build trust in communities where typically they dont feel protected, added Jenny Montoya Tansey, Policy Director for Public Rights Project. The effects of abuse were far-reaching, the survey found. Three quarters said their experiences caused stress and anger, and half said they lost sleep or i ncurred financial distress. One third of respondents developed medical problems, lost work hours or lost their jobs completely, or experienced problems in their relationships. And most people didnât receive any assistance with these issues, either. One respondent experienced worsening asthma symptoms as a result of living in an apartment complex with improper maintenance. This landed him in the hospital, where a doctor explained that allergens from the roach problem in the building could be causing his breathing problems. He attempted to get in touch with management, but his call was among thousands, since the building was operated by a large corporation. Finally, they called an exterminator out to my place, but it took months. And unfortunately, this was just a temporary fix,â said 25-year-old Austin Clark, from California. âIt was an old building and the company did not do routine pest control. They only sprayed in individual units when someone said something. Within a few we eks, I started seeing roaches again.Montoya Tansey said we have a long way to go to ensure corporations are held accountable for their crimes against vulnerable communities. âWe have work to do in building trust among these communities so that they will come forward, report these rights violations and trust that the justice system will help them, instead of letting them down, she said. The survey, which was conducted by David Binder Research, involved interviews with a broadly representative group in terms of age and gender, race and ethnicity, and income level. The margin of error was ±2.9 percent for victims and ±2.2 percent for the entire sample.Learn more about payday loans, scams, and cash advances by checking out our city and state financial guides, including Illinois, Chicago, Florida, Ohio, Texas, and more.Visit OppLoans on YouTube | Facebook | Twitter | LinkedIn

Hamlets Mysterious Love - Free Essay Example
Sample details Pages: 2 Words: 672 Downloads: 10 Date added: 2019/04/05 Category Literature Essay Level High school Tags: Hamlet Essay William Shakespeare Essay Did you like this example? William Shakespeare wrote a multitude of plays with complicated love stories, and Hamlet is no exception. Throughout the play, Hamlet is claimed to be many things; a murderer, a madman, and a lovesick fool. In Shakespeares plays, love itself is considered a disease which is why Polonius, Laertes, and Claudius scheme behind his back to battle his madness, among other things. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Hamlets Mysterious Love" essay for you Create order A subplot in the play of complicated theatrics is the love story of Ophelia and Hamlet. One wonders, did Hamlet truly love Ophelia? Despite Hamlets incessant affirmations that he does not love, trust, or respect her, his genuine feelings for her manifest at his weakest moments. The plot against Hamlets person causes the fundamental rift between Ophelia and Hamlet, leading to the dissimulation of his true sentiments. Claudius, Hamlets hated step-father, devises a plan to do away with him, since he is on the path of exposing him as the killer of Hamlets fathers, enlists Ophelias Father and brother, Polonius and Laertes. Hamlet writes Ophelia a love letter claiming, doubt truth be a liar but never doubt I love He insinuates that even if everything else in her life is untrue, his love never shall be. He tells her to never suspect the veracity of his emotion, despite what others imply. Her Father and brother then go on to warn her that his love is fleeting and to ignore his favor, and she obeys and hands over the letter, betraying Hamlets trust. From this point on, Hamlets feelings are masked and there is a dispute about whether or not they are honest. One instance, when Hamlet knows Polonius is watching he admits, I did love you, and then goes on to conflict hi mself and deny he cares for her and essentially shames her. However, Hamlet knows full well that and words spoken to Ophelia end in the ears of Polonius and eventually Claudius. This knowledge that none of his words are between the two, cloaks his amorous feelings in darkness until her death. Another reason why Hamlets sincere affection is unforthcoming is his conflicted nature throughout the play. The famous beginning quote of his soliloquy, to be, or not to be; that is the question. Hamlet struggles with deciding between not only life and death but also truth and falsity. So many retain nefarious agendas, deceit reigns heavy in his life and he knows not whom to trust; Ophelia, being one of them. The majority of the play Hamlet is trying to convince every one of his insanity, and Ophelia bears the brunt of the verbal cruelty. When Hamlet berates her, knowing Polonius is lurking she reacts thinking, and I, of ladies most deject and wretched, That sucked the honey of his music vows, Now see that noble and most sovereign reason out of time and harsh. In order to carry out his plan, he indirectly shatters Ophelias mind and heart. He may have decided he did not love her but when she drowns, he passionately, I loved Ophelia: forty thousand brothers could not, with all their qu antity of love make up my sum. He is truly heartbroken by her demise, and at the site of her grave, he agrees to duel with her brother Laertes. Hamlet is constantly at odds with himself and others and is indecisive about much. By the finale, he concludes with certainty that he loved Ophelia. All of Shakespeares plays have turbulent romances, and that of Ophelia and Hamlet proves one of the most tempestuous. Throughout a drama filled with duplicity and treachery, it is easy to believe that Hamlets love for Ophelia could not withstand the history of artifice between the two. Taking into consideration his past of death, despair, and possible madness one must realize the feeble position any human would be in. Yet, there is substantial evidence pointing to the fact that in the face of the malevolence, Hamlet continued to love and care for Ophelia until both of their untimely deaths. A love that transcends death, the afterlife, poison, and familial loyalty.

Franco and TPOK Jazz Essay - 1241 Words
Congolese guitarist, singer, bandleader and composer Francois Luambo Makiadi (Franco) ââ¬Å"the sorcerer of the guitarâ⬠was 20th century Africaââ¬â¢s most important musician; he was the greatest. My opinion is amply supported by the recent release of two double CD retrospectives Francophonic Volume 1(1953-1979) 2 (1980-1989). The sets demonstrate Francoââ¬â¢s amazing longevity, prolificacy, and innovation. From 1950 until his death in 1989, he record over a thousand songs, created a dominate style of African guitar playing, trained generations of musicians, and attained a status equivalent in Africa to Elvis or the Beatles in the West. These collections allow the listener to discover not only the evolution of a musical genius, but also the historyâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦OK Jazz was a formidable group ranging from six to over 20 musicians produced a whoââ¬â¢s who of African musicians and vocalists. Songs start slow with gentle vocal harmonies, incrementally building speed and adding layers instruments into funky sebenes leavened with strong Latin flavor. Cuban music was as essential to the development of modern Congolese music as African slaves were to the creation of Cuban music. Francoââ¬â¢s pan-African popularity was never matched by popularity amongst western ââ¬Å"world musicâ⬠fans; it sounds like salsa to most casual listeners, thus ending their exploration. However, there is a tremendous difference, the guitars are forceful, the rhythms urgent, and the vocal interplay is unique. Francoââ¬â¢s music has been difficult to find in the US, shunted aside by ââ¬Å"the world music flavor of the weekâ⬠or the tsunami of Afro-funk re-releases. I was scandalized by Pitchforkââ¬â¢s recent ââ¬Å"Africa 100â⬠playlist in which completely blew off Congolese music. However, amongst Africans over forty, the music of OK Jazz is held in reverence and his monster hits of the 1980s are inevitable played at parties an d village reunions. Conflict Between Equity And The Common Law - 1188 Words
2. The conflict between equity and the common law 2.1. The conflict before the Earl of Oxford case in 1615 The establishment of the Court of Chancery created the situation in which there were two separated systems of courts in the English common law and two distinct jurisdictions of these systems as well. In the relation with the legal proceedings of the common law courts, the Court of Chancery have three kinds of jurisdiction, these are the exclusive, concurrent and auxiliary jurisdictions. As mentioned above, the exclusive jurisdiction gave the Court of Chancery a hand to confront cases which did not fall within the scope of the common law jurisdiction. In other words, the Court of Chancery, going along with its equitable jurisdiction, was the unique judicial institution that had capacity to arrange justice reliefs. Since issues could not be resolved in the common law courts, when the Court of Chancery carried out its exclusive jurisdiction to resolve these cases, it decisions had hardly conflict with the common law courts. Neve rtheless, there were some cases whose facts fell within both of the common law and equity jurisdictions, these cases laid under the concurrent jurisdiction of the Court of Chancery and they led to the situation in which both the Court of Chancery and the common law courts delivered their own reliefs. However, the Chancellor, some time, seemingly convinced the litigants to exercise his decisions, rather than the common law judgments because heShow MoreRelatedEquity Plays An Important Role For The Common Law758 Words à |à 4 PagesEquity plays an important role in the common law which will be explained in this essay. Lord Scarman once described the principle of equity in National Westminster Bank PLC v Morgan as a ââ¬Ëworld of doctrine, not of neat and tidy rulesââ¬â¢ which emphasises its rigidity nature to provide its flexibility. ââ¬Å"How can you create such a smooth sound from every simple string, dad?â⬠-I cuddled my guitar inquisitively and asked my father. He said: ââ¬Å"A romantic and soulful mind will help you do that.â⬠It was on my eleventh birthday. I stopped cutting my birthday cake to pay attention at my father. Despite the Happy Birthday song being familiar, I could feel something new through the melody of the guitar version my father was performing. Watching him play every melodious rhythm with his agile fingers on every string of the guitar like a real artist, my sudden curiosity to discover the beauty of music was immediately invoked. I first started learning to get accustomed to guitar through fundamental chords. Holding my guitar in hand, I struggled to stick my weak fingers tightly to the strings, hoping to make a smooth melody like my father did, but instead it sounded so rough. I felt a little worried, but my father helped me with several effective methods to strengthen my finger muscles by doing some stretching and caterpillar exercises. Although it was simply fretting some easy notes and learned to switch from C minor to A minor, E minor or G minor, it helped my fingers slide more flexibly on every string. My fingers developed fully calloused and numb to the pain that I could confidentially create beautiful sounds. ââ¬Å"Finally I can do itâ⬠-a little happiness appeared on my face when I was able to play half of the song You raise me up of West Life on my guitarââ¬âa nice song with beautiful lyric that I spent much time practicing. I tried to sing first few sentences while playing guitar, and realized that it was not easy as I thought, since a boy who just began playing guitar could not combine those skills simultaneously. ââ¬Å"You raise me up, so I can stand on mountain. You raise me up, to walk on stormy sea.â⬠ââ¬âI tried to raise my voice up to the highest intonation. Unfortunately, I got a sore throat for a week due to screaming too much rather than singing. Since finding other ways to practice singing and also took care of my voice by gargling salt water regularly, I recovered quite quickly. ââ¬Å"Oh your voice sounds like Jackie Chan and your eyebrow raises up with a creased face like a monkeyâ⬠-my father teased me when he caught me singing. I said: ââ¬Å"Dad, those melodious rhythms are so powerful that they submerged me deeply into the musical world, I do not know what I feel, but my facial expression implicitly reveals my feeling.â⬠That night, I sat in the dark and silent room where I could find music as my soulmate, tried to complete the rest of the song. Every rhythm slowly resounded from bass to high, subtly embedded in my mind. Magically, I could catch up the tune of the melody, and my fingers automatically slid faster and naturally on the strings without practicing before. That feeling was also like the moment my father teased me, but a little stronger and wilder. I closed my eyes and flied with the rhythm. The lyric song suddenly crossed through my mind, forced me to yell loudly: ââ¬Å"I loved you mom and dad.â⬠Right, it was not too late for me to express my love for my parents through the lyric of the song. I gradually understand about the thing my father told me: ââ¬Å"A beautiful and soulful mind will help you do that.â⬠That was exact, I could not play music unless it touched my soul and music did not come to me unless I opened my heart. A little artist shining among darkness, ââ¬Å"You are more mature, Trung.â⬠ââ¬â I told myself with a full of euphoria and a little pride.
